Jack Zubella Obituary
Jack R. Zubella, 90, of Sussex, found peace on Friday, January 13, 2023 at his home surrounded by his children.
Jack was born on May 8, 1932 in Milwaukee, the son of the late John and Marie (nee Boschuetz) Zubella. On November 26, 1955, he was united in marriage to Carol Tinnerman. She preceded him in death on May 5, 1968. Later he married Dolores Klockow Steffen on May 30, 1970 who also preceded him in death on December 7, 1998.
Jack served his country in the Korean War receiving the Korean Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and served as Commander of the Sussex Horne Mudlitz Post #6377 from 1976 to 1978.
Jack worked for Bruch Brothers Construction for 34 years as a cement mason and was a 50 year member of the Operative Plasterers' and Cement Masons' International Association.
Jack was an avid fisherman and loved to garden. He loved sharing his produce with everyone and was well known for his famous dill pickles. He enjoyed polka music and during football season you could always catch him watching the Green Bay Packers on TV or attending games at Lambeau Field as a season ticket holder. He had the "gift of gab" and was a "jack of all trades.". He could fix almost anything and loved to help others.
God and family were important to Jack. He was a member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sussex for many years and worked on various church projects.
Jack will be sadly missed by his children Linda (Steven) Konkel of Wausau, Terry (Heidi) Zubella, Penny Jo (Michael) Fryda of Sussex and Kathleen Farber of Sturgeon Bay and a step-daughter Kristi (Mark) Hartway of Seattle, WA. He is further survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family and friends.
In addition to his parents and wives, Jack was preceded in death by his brothers William, Robert, Jerry and his sister Marion (Campbell).
Funeral services for Jack will be held on January 21, 2023 at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church (N59 W22476 Silver Spring Dr. Sussex). Pastor Joe Wilkinson will officiate. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. with services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #382 and VFW Post #6377. Burial will be at a later date in Milwaukee.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church or Horne Mudlitz VFW Post #6377.
Jack's family wishes to extend their heart felt appreciation to the Heartland Hospice Staff and Jack's special caregivers Betty, Tami, Karleen and Laurie. Jack loved the trips for ice cream, card playing and puzzles. We love you all. The wonderful care Jack received his last days meant the world to us.
