She was predeceased by: her parents, Flora Melin (Willoughby) and John Melin; her husband Art; her sons, Michael Scharte and Tom Potter; her siblings, Bud, John and Elsie; and her great grandchild Andrew Potter.

She is survived by: her former husband Arthur J. Scharte; her children, Tim Scharte (Kerry) of Superior, Nancy Misfeldt (Scott), Chris Scharte (Tina) of Superior and Jeff Scharte (Erin) of Superior; her daughter-in-law Lynn Scharte; her grandchildren, Lindsay (Matt), Patrick (Nicole), Brooke (Ben), John, Joel (Ashley), Elizabeth (Justin), Neal (Jaclyn), James, Molly, Eiley, Andrew, Thomas (Erin), Abraham (Caroline) and Sonia (Paul); her great grandchildren, Isaiah, Natalie, Caleb, Sarai, Sophie, Miles, Keegan, Bryce, Jaxon, Camden, Elliott, Arianna and Parker; and her sister Katherine Sweeney. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
