He was predeceased by: his parents, Anna Schumacher (Richards) and Fred Schumacher; his wife Beverly Ann VanHorn; and his siblings, Beatrice, Carol, Carl, Margaret and Gilbert.

He is survived by: his children, Cathleen LaPorte (Gary), Brian Schumacher (Lisa) and Wendy Lundquist (Roger); his siblings, Noreen Schumacher, Bernice Hutchinson, Delwin Schumacher, Robert Schumacher (Susan) and Dale Schumacher; and his caregiver Jeannie. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren.
