He was predeceased by: his parents, Elroy Nelson and Mildred Nelson (Sharon); and his brother Gerald Nelson. He is survived by: his children, Chris Nelson and Kimberly Nelson; his stepchildren, Marcus Larson and Angela Kroll (Josiah); his grandchildren, Tylor and Collin; the mother of his children Tamera Larson; and his brothers, Martin Nelson (Ann) of Superior and James Nelson of Superior. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
