He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Seth Herstad (Holly), Ben Herstad (Becky), Leah Schmitz (Luke) and Hannah Johnson (Pete); his grandchildren, Grace, Meg, Anna, Betsy, Jake, Josh, Caleb, Naomi, Abigail, Ruth and Evelyn; and his brothers, Les and Eric.
