She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Zelma and Helen Zelma (Mihalak); her husband Wallace Peterson; her brother Edward Zelma; and her stepsiblings, Helen Skandel and Jim Mihalik.
She is survived by: her children, Steven Peterson (Kathy) of Eau Claire, WI, Rita Cheever (Bill) of Eau Claire, WI and Patricia Gannon of Superior, WI; her grandchildren, Becky Cheever (Preston) of Eau Claire, WI, Danny Cheever (Lindsey) of Stevens Point, WI, Karli Schellfeffer (Taylor) of Eau Claire, WI and Kale Peterson (Danielle) of Mankato, MN; and her great grandchildren, Lucas, Nathan, Anna and Chase. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Betty loved helping children learn and donated her time at Northern Lights Elementary School under the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program for many years.
