He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Benz and Sybilla Benz (Wipperfurth); his parents-in-law, Arne and Esther Merland; his siblings, Luella Jesberger, Milton and Jerome; his siblings-in-law, Robert Jesberger and Judy Benz; and also Jane Krueck.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Merland; his sons, Peter and Perry (Staci); his grandson Parker; and his sisters-in-law, Caroline Benz and Sonja Wipperfurth (Lyman).
