He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Qihui Zuo; his daughter Stephanie Zhang (Christopher Anecelle); and his friend Dr. Melvin P. Siedband.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations towards a commemorative tree in the Longenecker Garden at University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum, reflecting Huilian's love of nature and his adopted home in Wisconsin.
