Dale E. Horton Obituary
Sullivan, WI. Dale Horton Age 76 peacefully passed on December 17, 2023 at his family home. Dale was born October 18, 1947 in Beaver Dam WI to Emery and Cornell (Schepp) Horton. Dale graduated from Portage High School in 1966 then went to Madison Technical College for accounting. Dale served proudly in the US Army for 2 years as military police in Germany. He had a pen pal named Linda while he was stationed overseas. After Dale was discharged he came to visit an old college friend in Sullivan where he was introduced to Linda. Dale married Linda (Jackson) on October 14, 1972 and together they had their son Timothy. Dale worked at Badger Ammunition Plant in Baraboo and Husco in Waukesha. Dale had a full career with the Village of Sullivan as Clerk Treasurer where he served for 30 years. Dale retired in 2014 to pursue traveling with Linda to Alaska and other memorable vacations. Dale enjoyed supporting the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers, bowling, fishing, woodworking, and volunteering for Sullivan Jaycees Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Parade, and putting up the Village Christmas lights.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents Emery and Cornell, brother Durwin, sister in law's Crystal Horton and Beverly Jackson. Dale is survived by his wife Linda, son Timothy (Kelly), grandchildren Jackson and Brianna, brother Darryl, brother-in-law Gary Jackson, nephew Rick, niece Stacy, great nephews Wyatt, Emery, and Lucas, great niece Ashley, and many friends.
The family thanks Dale's in-home caregivers as they have assisted Dale through strength of body and companionship over the years. The family also extends a heartfelt thanks to Rainbow Hospice for their care and continued support through Dale's final days.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Service at 1 PM on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home, 121 S Cross St, Oconomowoc. Burial to follow at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia with full military honors.
