He was predeceased by: his parents, Ragner and Olein; his wife Dorothy "Dort" Bassette; his son Patrick Saaf; and his sister Ruth Marty.

He is survived by: his daughter Michelle Saaf; his grandchildren, Staci Carlson, Joshua Farrar (Marissa) and Sara Carlson; and his great grandchildren, Aidan, Peyton, Carter, Maddox and Hudson Farrar.
