He was predeceased by: his parents, William Sylvester Cotter and Florence Margaret Cotter (Betz); his son James "Butch" Cotter; and his siblings, Edward Cotter (Julie), Joseph Cotter (Renee), William Cotter (Elaine) and Marion Tague (Alfred).
He is survived by: his children, David Cotter of Sturgeon Bay, WI and Beverly Hollis of Sturgeon Bay, WI; his grandchildren, Dawn Wagner, John Cotter, David Cotter II (Kelly), Megan Cotter (Armando Maruffo), Michael Hajek, Eric Hajek and Amber Masterson (Matthew); and his sister Dorothy Paulan (Frank). He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
