He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Mikels and Martha Mikels (Berg); his wife Arleen Busse; and his siblings, Robert Mikels (Marie) and Betty Blaha (Joe).

He is survived by: his daughters, Diane Bowers (Shawn) and Deb Holland (Aaron); his granddaughter Emma Holland; and his brother-in-law Myrton Schley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church.
