He was predeceased by: his parents, Florence Runkel (Lyon) and Herbert Runkel (Bob); his grandmother Bena Lyon; his son Kim Douglas; and his brother Doug Runkel.
He is survived by: his wife Patty (Patty); his children, Jeff (Becky), Jill Koxlien (Jeff), John (Yvonne) and Joan Higley (Jon) of Strum; his grandchildren, Gabe, Jacob, Gretta, Jayde, Rosalee, Sadie, Tyler, Evan, Collin and Vincent; his great grandchildren, Rowan, Colton, Liam, Easton, Sawyer, Piper, Hayden, Jude, Lenox, Beau, Evelyne and Maeve; and his sisters-in-law, Jean Runkel, Bobbie Berg and Sonya Sylla. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at the Eleva Cemetery, Eleva, WI, In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Strum Public Library or Shriners Hospital.
