He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie Butts and Madaline Butts (Ryan); his wife Leatrice Hefty; his brother Jack; and his sisters-in-law, Laurel Butts and Donna Hefty.

He is survived by: his daughter Karen Lasure (Rob) of Stoughton; his grandsons, Tyler (Megan) of Madison, Mitchell (Karen) of Waterloo and Nicholas (Shannon) of Onalaska; his brother Jerry (Mary) of Belleville; and his brothers-in-law, Bob (Sandy), Norm (Rita) and Dwayne. He is also survived by nieces, and nephews.
