He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Leikness and Olivia Leikness (Offerdahl); his parents-in-law, Ivar and Alice Nelson; and his siblings, Henry, Louise Femrite, Helen Anderson, Florence Sproul, Donny, Virginia Vike, Freddy and Phillip.

He is survived by: his former spouse Wis; his sons, Todd and Brad (Kris); his wife Louise (Nelson); his daughter Julie Gilkes (Kurt); his grandchildren, Tyler (Bailey Smith), Ryan Leikness, Kelsey Leikness, Craig (Alicia), Brock (Morgan Shippy) and Allison Gilkes; his stepgrandchildren, PJ (Melissa) and Becky Johnson (Jason Steinberh); his siblings, Phyllis Porod, Beverly Hefty, Linda Olson (Bill), Susan Foye, Kathleen Jacobs and Steve Leikness (Cindy); his sister-in-law Ruth Cain; and his close friends, Bob and Sue Schiller. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
