He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Olson and Clarice Olson (Hanson); his wife Lois Schantz; his brothers, Robert "Bo" Olson and Ronald "Ronnie" Olson; his brother-in-law Joey Clarke; and his parents-in-law, Ralph and Florence Schantz.

He is survived by: his children, Lisa Olson (Fred Ladwig), Tom Olson (Debbie Branson) and Timothy Olson; his grandchildren, Tyler Olson, Christine Edgren (Matt) and Christopher Rolli; his great grandchildren, Emma Edgren and Drew Edgren; and his sister Karen Olson.
