David L. Smith Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David L. Smith of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, born in Harpersfield, New York, who passed away on May 21, 2022, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his wife Alyce Louise Oosterhouse; his brother William Smith of Anchorage, Alaska; his children, Matthew (Jan) of Jacksonville, IL, Markalan (Ann) of Appleton, WI, Elizabeth Meyer (Randy) of Hot Springs, SD, Leigh (Beth) of Stevens Point, WI and Stuart (Tammy) of Pelham, AL; his grandchildren, Kristen Souza (Nick) of Pleasant Hill, IA, Amy Barrett (Zach) of Zionsville, IN, David Smith (Martha Jane) of Boise, ID, Tivon Swenson of Fort Wayne, IN, Collin Smith of Stevens Point, WI, Lauren Smith of Minneapolis, MN, Lindsey and Nicholas Smith of Pelham, AL; his great grandchildren, Jazzmyne Swenson of Goshen, IN, Alexa Swenson of Fort Wayne, IN, Charlotte Souza of Pleasant Hill, IA, Bradley and Benjamin Barrett of Zionsville, IL.; and his siblings, Elizabeth Smith and Gilbert Smith.
In October 2009, David donated the museum with its contents and the building to the City of Stevens Point. Additionally, he donated money to the UWSP Foundation to fund five scholarships including the David L. Smith Endowment for Art Excellence.
