He was predeceased by: his parents, John Donovan and Josephine Donovan (Caffrey); and his siblings, Mary O'Brien, Margaret O'Brien, Patricia Bugel, Betty Brown and John Donovan.

He is survived by: his wife Delores Marie Tomczak; his sons, Timothy Donovan of Spooner, WI and James Donovan (Kristie) of Madison, WI; and his grandchildren, Kilian, Hollister and Korbynn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
