He was predeceased by: his parents, John Esser and Helen Esser (Gilles); his former wife Marion Ellingson; his grandsons, Brian Esser and Trevor Okonek; and his siblings, Ruth, Louise, Harold, Leo, Robert, Duane, Giles, Raymond and Claire.
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Smith; and his children, Susan Dietz (Michael) of Rice Lake, Donald Esser (Elizabeth) of Spooner, Denise Stanley (Ralph) of Puyallup, WA, Steven Esser (Laura Holtzman) of Spooner, Eugene Esser (Sherry) of Spooner, Kathryn Boissy (Jacques) of Spooner, Linda Okonek (Jerry) of Spooner and Joan Selvig (Christopher). He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; many other cherished nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
