He was predeceased by: his parents, Maynard Strunk and Wyona Strunk. He is survived by: his wife Carol Frey; his children, Kim Reed (Lance), Donny Strunk, Jeff Strunk (Amye), Mike Strunk (Kady), Greg Strunk (Amy) and Matt Strunk; and his brother Doug (Ginger). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.

He donated his carvings to Ducks Unlimited for fundraisers, and other works can be found inside local churches.
