He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Schafer and Adeline Schafer (Colvin); his wife Marlene Keyes; and his siblings, Carol Zoller and Kenneth Schafer.
He is survived by: his grandsons, Nicholas Griepentrog, Travis Schafer, Adam Krokstrom, Brandon Thieme, Mark Reis and Carson Schafer; his children, Tom Schafer (Deb) of Spencer, Greg Schafer (Sommer) of Hudson, Tammy Hanson (Tom) of Lincoln, NE, Lorrie Krokstrom of Marshfield, Michelle Thieme (Kenneth) of Spencer and Colleen Reis (Andrew) of Unity; his siblings, Jeanette Paun (Thomas) of Granton, Roger Schafer of Marshfield, Judy Sazama (Reed) of Marshfield and Debra Purvis (Jeff) of Spencer; and his pet Anna. He is also survived by his 21 grandchildren and his 18 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Roland's name can be directed to the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter.
