Richard Forrest Bates Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Forrest Bates (Spencer, Wisconsin), born in Montgomery, Alabama, who passed away on January 11, 2020, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Bates and Laurette Forrest Bates; his brother Ralph, Jr.; and his children-in-law, Barbara Kretzmann Bates and Char.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce Jonas; and his children, Diana, Alan (Jessica Southworth) of Janesville, Sugar Camp, Laurette Greenhalgh (Greg) of Fort Atkinson, Barb Bair (late Charlie) of Baraboo, Brian (Katherine) of Falls Church, Virginia and Eric (Donna) of Madison. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Baraboo Public Library or to the Friends of Devil's Lake.
