He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Ardith, Herbert LaVake, Wanda and Joseph Mertes. He is survived by: his parents, James Mertes and Geralyn Mertes of Wausau, WI; his daughter Rachel Mertes of Wausau, WI; his grandchildren, Allison and Judah; his brother Jason (Michelle); and his nephews, Tyler, Colin Mertes, Lance and Greg McNair.
