He was predeceased by: his wife Julia Frederick; his parents, Louis and Mary; his children, Marvin Schmitz and Lynn Evans; and his siblings, Herbert, Arnold, Lawrence (June), Albert (Luella), Charles Paul (Florence), Ida Weibel (Norbert), Julia Braun (Louis), Agnes Schmitz and Ernie Schmitz (Lucy).
He is survived by: his children, Thomas Schmitz (Denise Kissack), Milton "Butch" Schmitz, Douglas Schmitz, Rita O'Neill (Randy), Connie Ronke (Larry) and Nancy Schmitz (Chris Gettinger); his son-in-law Randy Evans; his grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Paulson (Dan), Karen O'Neill (Richard Ziegler), Josh O'Neill (Megan Flock), Corey Ronke (Emily), Kelly Degenhardt (Joe), Nick Evans, Brad Evans, Cassidy, Colten (Grace Leis), Jacob Green (Mariah Pierce) and Dakota Gettinger (Tierra Kaiser); his great grandchildren, Holden O'Neill, Aria Ziegler, Alivia Paulson, Lane Paulson, Adeline, Madison and Jaden Degenhardt; and his sister-in-law Marllyn Schmitz. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
