He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Rupert, Dorothy Braatz, Clyde and Agnes Clayton; his parents-in-law, Gerald and Mary VanBoekel; and his niece Renee Hurlbert.
He is survived by: his parents, Donald Braatz and Sally Braatz (Clayton); his wife Brenda Lee VanBoekel; his children, Jessica Clayton (Phil) of Edgerton, Mathew Braatz of Sparta and Ashley Van Geertruy (Joe) of Sparta; his grandchildren, Layla Braatz, Jackson Brown, Jazzabelle Van GeerTruy, Kayden Van GeerTruy, Trevor Clayton, Collin Clayton, Ivy Clayton, Mathew Braatz Jr., Clarissa Braatz and Tobi Braatz; his siblings, Barb Braatz, Jeff Braatz (Karen) of Antigo and Joe Braatz (Lee) of Shawano; and his siblings-in-law, Becky Buechner (Terry) of Seymour, Patti Andraschko (Dave) of Antigo, Sandy Andraschko (Mark) of Antigo and Scott VanBoekel (Sandi) of Antigo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
