He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Benning and Mayme Benning (Olson); and his brother James Benning. He is survived by: his wife Joanne Wilkie of Sparta; his children, Scott Benning (Jane) of Los Alamitos, CA and Lisa Benning of Mankato, MN; his granddaughters, Sarah and Rachel Benning; his brother George Benning (Julie) of Mondovi; and his sister-in-law Carol Benning of Eau Claire. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to The Trinity Lutheran Endowment Fund or Gundersen Medical Foundation.
