He was predeceased by: his wife Sally Ann; his son David (late Jean); his siblings, Harvey and Mabel; and his parents, Edward Windler and Freida Windler.

He is survived by: his children, Phillip (MaryKay), Robert (Lori), Thomas (Tricia) and Michael (Jane); his grandchildren, Joseph, Daniel, Ellen, Timothy, Andrew, Sarah, Tori, Taylor, Paul, George and Sally; his great grandchildren, Julian, Louisa, Charlotte, Nicholas, Adelaide, Rowe, Cooper, Mason and Layne; his brother Harold; his sister-in-law Charlotte Luettgen; and his friend Sue Popp. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
