He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Schmitt and Veronica Schmitt (Rivard); and his wife Judy Schmitt (Ritzer). He is survived by: his children, Excavating and Shep; his great grandchildren, Charlie, Becky, Luke, Levi, Jesse, Isaac, Kenny, Geo, David, Matt, Pete, Billy, Susie, Shelly, Ben, Bob, Ellie, Cathy, Christi, Andy, Sam, Madalyn, Mike, Claire, Megan, Jake, Tommy, Eva, Henry, Harvey, Jessica Murphy, Abby, Lilia (Mary Weaver), Veronica, Audrey, Francis and Lowell; and his siblings, Al Schmitt (Sylvia) and Rochelle Adams (Jim). He is also survived by 37 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
