He was predeceased by: his grandmother Martha Beyer; his parents, Audrey Blatter and Lyle Kirby; his grandson Dalton "Bookie" Brokiewicz; and his siblings, Rex and Eileen Malchow Olson.

He is survived by: his wife Diane Kirby of Kewaunee, WI.; his children, Nick Kirby (Susan Cruse), Wendy Kirby Peterson and Tammy Kerscher (Ben); his grandchildren, James Dobry (Brittany), Laura Steichen (Jeff), Wyatt Kirby, Cole McDonald, Brianna Kerscher and Brittany Kerscher; his great grandchildren, Cassidy, Angelica Dobry, Blair and Brooks "River" Steichen; his siblings, Martha Rae Richardson (Dan) and Rodney Olsen; and his close friends, Vern, Joe, Mike and Dan.
