He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Valentine Zak and Marguerite Alice Zak (Jorns); his parents-in-law, Oscar Henry Johnson and Carolyn Grace Johnson (Lettie); his brother Corwin Oscar Johnson; and his sister-in-law Cynthia Ann Johnson (Paradise).
He is survived by: his wife Karen Johnson-Zak; his sister Bay; his daughter Stacey Watson (Angus) of Falls Church, VA; his grandsons, Ryan and Dylan Watson of Falls Church, VA; his siblings, Daniel Zak (Pam) of Seymour, WI and Sandra Koepsel (William) of Sun Prairie, WI; his brother-in-law Conrad Johnson (Linda); and his nieces and nephews, Mathew Johnson (Melanie) of Woodbury, MN, Nicholas Johnson, Erika Johnson of Fairfax, VA and Becky Stewart (Jason) of Oostburg, WI..
