He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Maltby and Marie Maltby (McCollum); his wife Shirley Sunstrom; and his siblings, Jack and Laura May.

He is survived by: his children, Kim Picha (Mike) and Mike Maltby (Britt); his grandchildren, David, Emma Picha, Max, Eliza and Marshall Maltby; and his brother Willis Maltby. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.
