He was predeceased by: his parents, William B. and Elizabeth A.; and his father-in-law Robert A. Roberts. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Ann Roberts; his son David Elfers (Thiney); his brother Joe Elfers; and his mother-in-law Marlene Roberts.

Due to COVID-19 and CDC guidelines, funeral services and interment will be private.
