He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Bates; his children, Ricky Schmaling (Heather Warning), Jodi Van Hout (Jim), Susan Bock (Doak), John Butler (Teresa) and Mike Schmaling; his grandchildren, Jesse Butler and Jenean Schmaling; and his sister Carol Erdman.
