He is survived by: his son Dale Nichols, III (Chanda); his grandchildren, Mason and Alysa; his children, Kristina Nichols and Rae Nichols; his nieces, Sarah Mertel (Mike), Cynthia Carlson (Dace), Theresa Daul (Ryan) and Lisa Ritchie (Roland Saferite); his siblings, Diana Blom (Bill) and Terry Nichols; and his brother-in-law Larry Ritchie.
