He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Nelson and Myrtle Nelson (Taylor); his former wife Sharon Nelson; and his siblings, Ron, Ted, Ken and Nancy.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Fields; his children, Brenda Landwehr (Bill), Barb Kerr (Jon) and Bruce Nelson (Michelle Schneider); his brother LeRoy Nelson (Janet); his stepchildren, Shelly Chudzik (Kevin), Wendy Krause, Sheila Labo, Tracie Masuca and Slade Bodzislaw; and his siblings-in-law, Sharon Nelson and Ray Smith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and his favorite companion.
