He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Gruenke; his siblings, Peter Gruenke, Dave Gruenke and Ruthann Boeldt (Gordon); and his siblings-in-law, Arleen Gruenke, Helen Gruenke and Howie Rhode.
He is survived by: his fiancée Julie Bell; his son Andy Gruenke (Tammie); his grandchildren, Hailey Gruenke (Andrew Leal), Arik Gruenke of Serenity Ghent, J. J and Charlie Ghent; his siblings, Sue Rhode, Tim Gruenke, Don Gruenke and Bill Gruenke; and his sister-in-law Mary Gruenke. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Steve's name.
