He was predeceased by: his parents, George D. Schoneman and Eleanor M. Zimmerman Schoneman; his parents-in-law, Palmer and Leona Sixel; his sister-in-law Marion Sixel; and his granddaughters, Elizabeth and Leslie Schoneman.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Mae; his children, Mark Schoneman (Sharol), Jeff Schoneman (Linda), Lynn Kohlhagen (Glen) and Richard Schoneman (Lisa); his grandchildren, Jay Schoneman (Ashley), Joel Schoneman (Jamie Fleury), Kate Schoneman, Ashley Rathsack (Patrick), Jami Schoneman-Bohn (Mike), Jerod Schoneman (Kelly), Jessie Wensink (Don), Christy Staab (Brandon), Calley Mize (Johnny), Taylor Kohlhagen (Hailee), Eric Schoneman and Bryan Schoneman; his brothers, George (Ruth) and Robert Schoneman; his brother-in-law Ray Sixel; and his cousin Al Hilpertshauser. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
