He was predeceased by: his father Cyril Wakefield; his wife Carolyn Buechel; and his sisters, Barbara Keller and Deloris Wakefield. He is survived by: his children, Sherry Rieth (James), Lynn Haack (Chuck), Wendy Smith (Rick), Steve Wakefield (Gina), Kurt Wakefield (Connie) and Craig Wakefield; his grandchildren, Randy Penney (Marla), Angela Kemp (Greg), Shannon Strysick (Bradley), Christopher Haack, Nickolas Haack, Ryan Smith (Jessica), Nathan Smith (Danel Generi), Derek Wakefield (Tori), Nicole Bender (Levi), Amanda Wakefield, Aaron Wakefield, Jennifer Wakefield, Felicia Nohr, Jacob Wakefield, Hunter Wakefield, Adam Wakefield, Justin Wakefield (Jamie Buhler), Kaitlin Wakefield and Jayce Bradford; and his brother Ron Wakefield (Mary Lewis). He is also survived by thirty six great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Onen's name.
