He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Thiel and Elanora Hinz Thiel; his siblings, Wallace Thiel and LouAnn Thiel; his siblings-in-law, Don Lauer, Ronald Kampmann and Joanne Thiel; and his nephew David Thiel.
He is survived by: his siblings, Herbert Thiel (Margaret), Jean Lauer, Judith Krull (Merlin) of Marysville, TN and Lavern "Dolly" Kampmann; and his friend Thomas Lubach (Vicky). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
