He is survived by: his daughters, Diane Knoll (Allie) of Stratford, WI, Carol Garces (Carlos) of New Berlin, WI and Sandra Benz (Randy) of Brookfield, WI; his daughter-in-law Suzy Merkel of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Sarah Dahmen (John), Adam Knoll (Angela), John Knoll (Jackie), Dan Garces (Katelan), Maria Garces (Peter Lafaivre), Casey Garces (Mary), Anthony Benz (Tiffanie Mosey), Derek Benz (Amy) and Emily Benz (Dan Tournoux); and his brother Jerome Merkel (Dorothy). He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren.
