She was predeceased by: her parents, William Balz and Laura Balz (Dedering); her husband Gordon; her siblings, Jerome Balz and Marion Balz; her siblings-in-law, Eugene Rabe, Pirmin Schmitz (Cyrilla), Lucina Casper (Lyle) and Kay Schmitz; and her parents-in-law, Henry and Ida Schmitz.
She is survived by: her children, David Schmitz (Helen Himes) of Phoenix, AZ, Gary Schmitz (Susan), Dawnine Lenzner (Patrick) and Bradley Schmitz (Sarah); her grandchildren, Heidi Wiegman (Fin), Heather Schmitz, Olivia Schmitz (Matthew Simons), Grayson Schmitz (Holly Calcagno), Michael Schmitz (Julika Reese), Jacob Schmitz (Zoe Nevil) and Lilliana Schmitz; her great grandchildren, Ella, Lane Wiegman, Gray and Ford Simons; her sister Rachel Rabe; and her siblings-in-law, Carol Balz and Daniel Schmitz. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.
