She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe DeVere and Mavis C. Sanford (Scheffel); her husband Allen John Bruggink of Peter's Episcopal Church; her siblings, Evelyn Wittman (Ervin) and Frederic Sanford (Carol); her nephews, Lew Wittman, Ronald, Russell and Randall Sanford; her grandson Michael Bruggink; and her brother-in-law Robert Bruggink (Ruth).
She is survived by: her children, Cathy Gold (Cecil) and Jeffrey Bruggink (Janelle); her grandchildren, Heidi Bruggink Sulman of Massachusetts, Dean Goetsch of Florida, Tom Goetsch (Edyta) of Utah and Jeannine Schlegel (Daniel) of Germantown; her great grandchildren, Leah, Luke Schlegel, Benjamin, Matthew Goetsch and Gabriel Sulman; her nieces and nephews, Lori Place (Michael), Robert Sanford, Paul Bruggink (Sandy), Thom Bruggink (Susan), Marijane Johnson (Bruggink), Betty Allen (Wittman), David Wittman (Susan) and Robert Wittman (JoEllen); and her extended family, Barbara Zirwes Nysse (Roger), Amanda, Patrick Mlinaz, Greg Zirwes (Theresa), Jessica and Justin Zirwes (Taylor).
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Peter's Church (104 Elm St, Sheboygan Falls, WI 53085). A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the same location.
A memorial fund is established in Joan's name for St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
