He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Eckardt and Rhoda Eckardt (Kuhn); and his wife Myrtle Schneider. He is survived by: his cousins, David Goetsch (Ruth), Mary Goetsch, Daniel Goetsch (Joan) and Ann Goetsch-Koenig.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gene's name at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Howards Grove.
