He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Koenig and Walter Brendel; and the mother of his children Mary Ann Brendel. He is survived by: his close friend Nancy LaPearle; his children, Michelle Martinez (Cristino), Laurie Martinez (Jose), Gary Brendel Jr., Brian Brendel (Debbie), Wally Brendel (Angie) and Karen Brendel; his grandchildren, Cassandra, Christino Jr., Samuel, Biolanda, Angelina, Aiden, Genevieve, Brooke, Jimmy, Crystal, Ryan, Vinnie, Alyssa, Wally Jr., Makayla, Jameson and Treyvon; and his sisters, Kathy Gannigan (Leslie), Cindy Kunstman (Eugene Sr.) and Joyce Virant.
