James Bell Obituary

James Lawrence "Jim" Bell, age 70 of Shawano, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022. Jim was born on August 20, 1951, to the late Newton and Elfa (LeRoy) Bell in Fort Atkinson, WI. He enlisted in the United States Army. Jim loved his community. He was often seen walking around town, socializing with everyone and play his guitar.

Jim is survived by: his children, Brandon Bell and Gina (Donald Miller) Bell; grandchildren, Vanessa Bell, Jacob Miller and Riley Miller; and one sister Sandra Becker. He is further survived by, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Newton and Elfa and siblings, Sue Bell, Pauline Peters and Douglas LeRoy.

A funeral service for Jim will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano, with Deacon Todd Raether officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of the Menominee Nation. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 4-8 pm and again on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 9:30 am until the time of service.

“James was a good friend. I remember him asking if he should buy leather pants at the Cosignment Shop. He would laugh and chat with me about his service in Vietnam. I remember him playing the guitar for me on a bench outside Walgreen's. When I stayed at Wisconsin House Inn, he was a few doors down. I remember his hugs and flirty-but-kind remarks. He will be missed.”
