He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin H. Thurnau and Olive Thurnau (Hogrewe). He is survived by: his wife Lorie Ann (Dykstra); his sons, David Thurnau (Elizabeth) and Erik Thurnau; and his siblings, Edwin Thurnau (Edith), Arlene Kemnitz (Erwin), Shirley Miller (Harold) and Nancy Zabel (Paul). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
