He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Ruyter and Leona De Ruyter (Pennenberg); his siblings, Ken De Ruyter (Mary), Dori Kropp (Gary) and Joy Danforth; his father-in-law William Van Asten; his nephews, John Krause and Terry Hintz; his niece Mary Kropp; and his brothers-in-law, Ron Laskowski, Ralph Fiedorowicz and Randy Adler.
He is survived by: his wife Sherry De Ruyter; his children, Chris De Ruyter (Mallorie), Amy De Ruyter (Brett Mathison), Tracy Weyenberg (Pete) and Kevin De Ruyter (Chelsea Cox); his grandchildren, Bennett, Ella, Remi, Brooks, Hope and Max; his siblings, Bonnie Laskowski, Beverly Krause (Milton), Ron De Ruyter (Janelle) and Dan De Ruyter; his mother-in-law Marian Van Asten; his siblings-in-law, Beverly Van Asten, Marilyn Hembree (Doug), Mark Van Asten (Marcy) and Joe Van Asten (Theresa); and his godsons, Dan Danforth, Al De Ruyter, Tom Krause, Jeremy Van Asten and Kyle De Ruyter. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Rick's memory.
