He was predeceased by: his parents, William Schaefer and Antonia Schaefer (Dreifuerst); his wife Anna Marie Wergin (Baus); his former wife Marian Bieger of Patrick's Catholic Church; his son John; and his siblings, Hortense Sippel, Hazel Wettstein and Leonard Schaefer.
He is survived by: his daughter Susan Meyer (Larry) of Newton; his grandchildren, Kari Noskowiak (Aaron), Garret Meyer (Allie), Paul Meyer (Jennifer), Cody Meyer (Jesse) and Savannah Kuhl (Tom); and his great grandchildren, Carter, Landon, Jase Noskowiak, Natallia Meyer, Daniel Schlembach, Miguel Hartel, Wyatt Codr and Hudson Kuhl. He is also survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
