He was predeceased by : his parents, David Pritchard and Elizabeth Pritchard (Hemmrich). He is survived by : his sister Mavis Ebbe; his nephews, Robert Ebbe and Christopher Ebbe; his former life partner Meredith Pritchard; his stepchildren, Jennifer Kurth of Des Moines, IA, Julia Dickey (Selwyn) and William Kurth; and his children, Jarrett and Collette of Evanston, IL..

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials in John's name to The Dementia and ALS Foundation.
