He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Joseph Platzer and Margaret Louise Platzer (Plante); his nephew Chad Swedberg; his stepgrandson Noah Giersdorf-Thompson; and his siblings, Joe Koerner (Matilda), Kenny Koerner (Janice), Bobby Platzer and Carol Swedberg (Leroy).
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Thompson; his sons, Tom Jr. Platzer (Renita Juarez) and Christopher Platzer (Leslie); his grandchildren, Mason Platzer, Dawson Platzer and Marcello Platzer; his great grandchild Anna Jo Jabs-Platzer; his stepdaughters, Donna Giersdorf-Thompson (Barry), Candace Thompson and Melanie McDowell (Wade); his stepgrandchildren, Grace Thompson, Chet Giersdorf-Thompson, Joni Giersdorf-Thompson, Charlsie Thompson, Owen McDowell and Oliver McDowell; his siblings, Jean Haffner (Mike) and James Platzer; his sister-in-law Diane Platzer; and his nieces and nephews, Julie, Johnny, Michelle, Jennifer, Kenny, Kristie, Robert Jr. and Steven.
